ABOUT STEVEN BLOOMFIELD
Steven 'Tex' Bloomfield is a well-known cartoonist specialising in automotive cartoons and comic strips. His work is humorous and relevant and his style is versatile. Years of experience living in regional Australia has allowed Steven to develop a unique insight into life in the bush. When he combines this with his strong sense of humour, some very funny cartoons are the result. Steve often did sketches while telling stories at the dining table and at bedtime to his four children, Hannah, Adam, James and Will. At a family function his stories were also enjoyed by his grandaughter who was 2 at the time (thanks to the restaurants who provide colouring pencils and paper table cloths!). Steven has had a lifelong love of cars, trucks and other things automotive. This led him to gain regular employment with Truckin' Life magazine for nearly 20 years. Steve's monthly contributions provided a humorous insight into the Australian transport industry and included several years of continuing the adventures of Diesel Dog, a character originally created by Gary Clark. The Trucktoons (1984-2004) section of Truckin' Life magazine was hugely popular and four dedicated 'Bloomfield Trucktoons' books were compiled. Steven went on to develop Reg Legend, a car-loving, knockabout character whose exploits were depicted in Australian Ute magazine for five years. Steve now enjoys creating yearly BLOOMFIELD TRUCKTOONS CALENDARS. ORDER yours in October for for the following year.
Steven currently contributes to the NSW Police Association magazine (monthly) and several newsletters for corporate purposes. Latest publications are large 2 panel comic for CASA in 2020, his work is versatile and has shown willingness to take on any challenge, if he can draw planes and skilfully draw what he reads from any story board given to him. That’s talent!
Steven developed a following which led him to supply sketches to the Australian Defence Force, Austroads, Shell, the Canberra Institute of technology, NSW Police, CASA and more. His realistic sketches have been popular as gifts and momentos and he has enjoyed drawing personalised Christmas cards for several years. Recently, Steven completed a number of drawings that were included in a mainstream medical textbook, highlighting the versatility of his abilities. One of Steven's biggest fans is his son, Will (himself a talented cartoonist), who loves challenging his Father with requests for specific drawings.
